Vancouver Launch Event!

What a stunning day in Vancouver to talk about The Pink Tax! Thank you to Addy and TD Canada, our wonderful sponsors who made this event possible. We started the evening off with a beautiful spread of veggies, meats, cheese, crackers and more along with your drink of choice. Each guest was given a book upon entry and one lucky person got a gift card to Poppy Barley shoes—thank you to PB for that donated door prize. We also had another female-owned company Melts Infusions giving away door prizes to five lucky guests. Sanaz Bahrami, the owner and developer of the plant based ADHD/depression/anxiety supplements was there to answer everyones questions.

The guests were seated and it was time to begin the program. Introduced by two representatives of TD Canada, Janine was welcomed to a sold out crowd of 90 guests. The discussion began with the good old lemonade stand story—one that resonated so well with the Edmonton crowd. We had so many questions! The dialogue of this generally like-minded group was respectful and thought provoking.

One thing I think we can take away from listening to these audiences is the importance of diversity of leadership in all aspects of our society. You cannot legislate for what you do not understand. These experiences are universal across our society and we need to continue to include everyone (yes, that includes men!) at the table to help move the needle and finally let future generations see wage equality and the closing of the wage gap.
